Acceptable use policy
Put It Online is for sharing files with people. Keep it legal, safe and kind.
You may not upload or share
- Child sexual abuse material, or any sexualised content involving minors. We report it to the authorities (e.g. NCMEC) and preserve evidence as the law requires.
- Malware, viruses, ransomware, or executables and installers (for example .exe, .msi, .scr, .bat, .ps1, .vbs, .jar, .apk, .dmg, .pkg, or .app bundles), including inside archives.
- Phishing or scams: fake login pages, payment-card or seed-phrase harvesting, wallet drainers, or deceptive redirects.
- Non-consensual intimate imagery, sexual content that isn't clearly lawful and consensual, or explicit content meant to shock.
- Content that promotes terrorism or violent extremism, credible threats, or harassment and hate targeting protected groups.
- Content you don't have the rights to share, or private personal data (doxxing).
- Spam, or using Put It Online to evade another service's blocks.
How we enforce it
- Every upload is checked automatically. Quick checks run before it goes live (exact fingerprints of known-bad and previously removed files, malware test signatures, blocked file types); the full scan (malware and executable scanning, phishing heuristics, and automated image and text moderation) usually finishes within seconds of it going live, and anything that fails it is taken down at once and its uploader banned. Some uploads (for example large files, and uploads while we see a spike in abuse) are published only on a paid plan, and only after the full scan passes; a subscription never skips or overrides these checks, and an upload that fails them is not published.
- Uploads aren't available over VPNs, proxies, Tor, iCloud Private Relay, or hosting/datacenter networks. Exception: an AI assistant or app connected to your account (OAuth or an API key) may upload for you from a VPN or hosting network, because AI services run in data centers. Tor is never allowed.
- Anyone can report a link. Several reports hide a link until we review it.
- Removed files are fingerprinted so the exact same file can't be uploaded again.
- Zero tolerance: one confirmed violation suspends uploading for good. A single removal by our team, or an automatic block for malware, known-bad files, phishing or child sexual abuse material, suspends the uploader's account, browser and network from uploading, and hides their other links. Reports alone never suspend anyone; a person reviews them first. To appeal, email abuse@putit.online.
